About Me

Keith Kroesen began teaching in IUSD in the 2011-2012 school year. He received his teaching credential and Bachelor of Music from the University of the Pacific in Cello Performance and Music Education. He went on to receive a Master of Music in Suzuki Pedagogy from the University of Denver. While in Denver, Mr. Kroesen was actively involved with the Denver Talent Education, a cooperative Suzuki school. In the summer of 2011, he served on the faculty of the Rocky Mountain Cello Festival, directing the cello orchestra.

During his tenure in IUSD, Mr. Kroesen has worked as a string specialist for both elementary and middle school music, teaching 4th through 6th grade strings as well as 7th and 8th grade music classes. He has conducted Elementary Honor Chamber Strings in 2012, 2013 and 2016 and Elementary Honor Orchestra in 2015. He is also a recipient of numerous awards including the Music Teachers National Association Achievement Award and in 2016, he was recognized by Orange County Music and Arts Administrators as the 2016 Outstanding Arts Educator in Elementary Instrumental Music. In 2018, he was awarded the IUSD Teacher in Excellence Award for the Visual and Performing Arts Department.

Mr. Kroesen is an active member of several professional and academic organizations, including Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, American String Teacher’s Association, and Suzuki Association of America. He resides in the South Orange County area with his wife, Nicole, and their sons, Jack and James.

Mr. Kroesen teaches string classes at five elementary schools in Irvine Unified School District - Brywood, Canyon View, College Park, Culverdale and Eastwood. He enjoys working with students to provide high quality string education that develops the whole student.​
